Activity: Three-Legged Race

Objective:

to move in coordination with peers

Materials:

2 cones for finish line  per group of 2 learners
1 scarf or bandana  per group of 2 learners
(Optional)  1 whistle  per whole group

Supporting Media:

Prep:

  • Place the 2 cones per team at an equal distance apart.

Instructions:

  1. Totetude Warm-up Song
  2. Divide the players into teams of two. Using a bandanna or scarf, tie one partner's right ankle to the other's left ankle.
  3. Teams should line up, side by side, at their first cone.
  4. When the whistle blows, all of the pairs race to the second cone, go around the cone, and return to the beginning cone.
  5. The first team that crosses the finish line wins.

Diane Marie Squires:

Even though there was a height difference between my daughter and I, we both managed to complete the exercise. I was able to teach her about the importance of teamwork as well. We had a lot of fun tied together!
