Activity Adaptations

If an activity is not going as planned and you are beginning to feel frustrated, then consider adapting it by either changing:

  • SIZE:
    adapt the number of items that the learner is expected to learn or complete
  • TIME:
    adapt the time given for learning or completion of the task
  • LEVEL OF SUPPORT:
    adapt the amount of help offered
  • INPUT:
    adapt the way the instruction is given
  • OUTPUT:
    adapt how the learner demonstrates understanding of the lesson
  • DIFFICULTY:
    adapt the skill level
  • PARTICIPATION:
    adapt how actively involved the learner is required to be
  • ALTERNATE:
    adapt the objectives with the same materials
  • SUBSTITUTE:
    adapt the instruction and materials to meet the objectives
